German scientists speculate that it might be because the puppies were exposed to biliverdin, a green pigment produced in the placenta that is associated with bile. Strange as it may sound, this pigment can occasionally give puppies a brief green tint at birth.

This unusual tiny puppy soon resembled his siblings in appearance. However, Louise didn’t care about that. She had already developed a unique relationship with him and had chosen to name him Forest in honor of his remarkable beginning in life.
